Holman C. Rawls, III, DDS
Dr. Holman C. Rawls ("Skip") is a graduate of Hampden-Sydney College, the Medical College of Virginia Dental School and completed his residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery at the University of Maryland Hospitals in Baltimore in 1972. After two years in the US Navy Dental Corps, he began his private practice in Tidewater. Dr. Rawls is board certified in oral and maxillofacial surgery and belongs to multiple local national societies and organizations. Dr. Rawls helped bring Humana's Bayside Hospital to Virginia Beach where he set up a complete dental emergency department staffed by local volunteer dentists 24/7. He has appeared as a speaker to give examples and explain the scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery on radio and television. He has served as the head of the Dental Division and on the credentials committee of Norfolk General Hospital. He has served as secretary, treasurer, vice president and president of the Virginia Beach Dental Study club and given lectures to OLd Dominion Hygiene school, Tidewater Dental Assistants association, hospital OR staff, and local dental study groups. Dr. Rawls has practiced "full scope" oral and maxillofacial surgery for over 35 years and is a life member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.

Melvin L Ford, III, DDS
Dr. Melvin L. Ford has been a partner with Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery of Tidewater since 1995. Dr. Ford is a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University, where he received a BS with honors in chemistry. Dr. Ford received his DDS from the Medical College of Virginia in 1982. He completed his residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery in 1990 from the United States Air Force Wilford Hall Medical Center. Dr. Ford is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology. He has been appointed to the position of Assistant Clinical Professor in the department of Otolaryngology (ENT / Head and Neck Surgery) at Eastern Virginia Medical School. Dr. Ford is the past director of the department of Oral Medicine at Eastern Virginia Medical School. He is a member of numerous local and national medical and dental societies. Dr. Ford is presently a Captain in the United States Naval reserves with previous activation and extensive care provided for troops since 1995.
Klaus A. Guter, DDS
Dr. Klaus Guter, a native of Bogota, Columbia, South America, joined the practice in 2001. He graduated from Ohio State University, and he completed his dental school training at Ohio State University College of Dentistry graduating with honors. Subsequently he entered the navy where he received his oral and maxillofacial surgery training at the Naval hospital in Portsmouth, VA. He is a diplomate of both the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology. He is an active member of numerous medical and dental societies. Dr. Guter is currently the director of the Oral Medicine department in the division of Otolaryngology at Eastern Virginia Medical School.
Shaun B. Rai, DMD
Dr. Shaun B. Rai joined the practice in August, 2004. Prior to that Dr. Rai practiced as an oral and maxillofacial surgeon for four years in the metropolitan Washington, DC area. He graduated from Trinity College in Connecticut and from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. He completed a residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery at the Washington Hospital Center in Washington, DC. Dr. Rai is a diplomate of both the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology, and is a member of numerous local and national medical and dental societies.
